Bullion insignia in living history is something that has remained a constant since the 1970's, showing little if any change. The rank insignia of colonel as been particularly eggregious, and  that has always looked more like folk art than the sculptural embroidery of the 19th century.
Our reproductions are based directly from an original example, matching not only the proportion, but also hand selecting a finer bullion filament. In addition, many original examples that we have see, the back is not covered, and is exposed, reducing the thickness, and thereby making them considerably easier to sew. Dark blue velvet to indicate staff branch of service, and silver leaves for Lt. Colonel.
These straps convey the same elegance and precision of craft of the original counterparts.
