It is very cute and all you need is two pieces of glass from other photo frames and place the photo you want in between and then the glass fits in the slot and the base holds it in place. There is a foam like material in the slot to hold it in place. 5" X 7" seems to be the size that works best but you could try any you want. It looks pewter in color and is a metal but not sure what it is or anything as it has no markings. The base is 3.5" long, almost 2 inches tall and about 1.5" wide at the widest part.
