PANTALETTES Under Age 6 Child Size SM 20" Waist Closed Pantaloons Underdrawers

Reproduction underdrawers for a child under age 6.  100% cotton, closed inseam drawers or pantalettes.  New item which has never been used.
The drawers have a two piece waistband which closes with buttons at both sides of the waist. The buttons are washable wood-look plastic .  The waist as shown is 23" which allows for "ease." It is a simple matter to move the placement of the buttons to change the size of the waistband. The pantalettes are 18 1/2" from the top of the waist band to the bottom. The inseam is 9 1/2".  The pantalettes are made of  sturdy, 100% cotton percale. The bottom edge is decorated with a row of beautifully embroidered 2" wide cotton eyelet (or as it was know broderie anglaise) lace and a 1" wide  flat, deeply scalloped broidery anglaise.

Both boys and girls of the Era wore drawers.  The only difference between the drawers of little boys and little girls was the amount of decoration around the hemline.  Children's drawers buttoned on both sides and often little boys had drawer bodies (a loose undershirt-like garment) that buttoned to the waistband, the original "panty-waist".)  Unlike adult drawers,  small children's drawers had sewn crotches.  this pattern is for drawers suitable for boys and girls to around the age of 6.  The pattern is for a waistband that buttons at both sides.  Drawers usually were mid-calf in length and con be seen in pictures peeking out beneath the little girl's and little boy's dresses."
