SMOKING CAP Reproduction 1800's Victorian Style Black 100% Wool Size Large

Description

Handmade man's smoking cap or lounging cap in superfine black 100% wool.  The round cap is 24" in circumference and 3 1/2 " tall. It has an inner lining of 100% cotton batting for warmth, and is lined with black 100% cotton broadcloth. The cap is decorated with a black silk-look rayon tassel decorated with strings of silver chain and gun metal faceted beads with a silver metal finial.
During Victorian and Edwardian times, after dinner, gentlemen left the ladies and gathered to smoke their cigars and share a drink. In order to spare the ladies the smell of smoke gentlemen would frequently don their "smoking jacket and smoking cap" which could be removed, along with the smoke smell.
Civil War re-enactors enjoy wearing the warm caps on a cool evening around the campfire. Steam punk, Edwardian, cigar club members, or any distinguished gentleman, will enjoy the cap. Smoking /lounging caps are a great accessory, suitable for many eras and uses. Smoking is not required!
